TAIPEI, TAIWAN — Human Technology is an internatonally well-known advertising campaign slogan, the Department of Information and Technology Education of MOE in collaboration with the NCTU unveiled a Friendly Restaurant App that is designed for physically challenged people, which realizing the slogan into daily life.
“We wanted to eat meal on a sightseeing spot, we looked around half an hour and almost ran out of eletricity of our , but none of restaurants welcomed us to get in. It's very disppointing.” said by a infantile paralysis coule You Ya-wen and Chen Li-juan.
Having experienced the unfriendly restaurants so that they decided to become the so-called “Love Agents” and visited 50 restaurants to see if they were accessible restaurants.
Michelin Red Guide comes from France while the Friendly Retaurant Gude is from Taiwan. This Friendly Restaurant App project conductor is Lin Chong-wei, a Professor of NCTU, encouraging students to discover the need of physically challenged people, then to define the problem of which, thus to deveplop solutions and try to resolve it, finally to deliver to the App.
The App also gathered 50 physically challenged, visually-impaired, and hearing-impaired people to experience restaurants in Taipei city and categorized under friendliness of streamline, environment, and accessible facilities.
The so-called “Love Agents”, using their smartphone and tablet to collect information of restaurants in Taipei and also to take pictures of which and uploaded it to the App so that users can get the first glimpse of the restaurant in advance.
The App also provided information on whether the restaurant has accessible toilets, parking, or if welcomed motorized wheelchair. It also has a printed version to assist those who don't posses smartphone or tablet, and can be downloaded http://www.OurCityLove.org .
