AAEON brings “focus” to digital signage with its latest members to the embedded motherboard family: EMB-Q87B and EMB-H81B.(IPC)
Designed primarily for digital signage, the EMB-Q87B sports three DisplayPort interfaces and one HDMI interface. Compared to its predecessor, the EMB-Q87A, which sports three different types of display interfaces (DisplayPort, VGA, HDMI), this new arrangement saves users the trouble of having to bring in various display devices for their application, allowing them to concentrate on one type of interface to bring in more content.
The three DisplayPort interfaces are programmed to be used either simultaneously or independently, making the board ideal for users wishing to enlarge their signage to the size of three display devices or showing signage in sequence, similar to that of a marquee.
Users such as shopping mall operators, who are entrusted with managing multiple signage, will find the board welcoming with onboard Active Management Technology (AMT) by Intel. Remote management capabilities offered by this technology may help them in controlling and managing all of the signage without onsite presence.
Other conveniences offered by the board include specially placed USB ports which require no special wiring for usage, one full size and one half size MiniCard slot for expansion and a healthy range of operating voltage of 12V – 24V, to ensure the board’s implementation is unrestricted by locations of different voltages.
For users that may wish for a more economic and cost effective solution for signage applications, AAEON also offers the EMB-H81B, capable of performing the same function as the EMB-Q87B with the exception of AMT, due to the use of different hardware.
“The EMB-Q87B may appeal to high-end users for its performance, while the price-competitiveness of the EMB-H81B may be more suited for users requiring basic signage applications,” said Chelsea Lee, Project Manager of AAEON’s Industrial PC Division.
