TAIPEI, Taiwan - Sakai Display Production (SDP), invested by Hon Hai Group, jointly announced last week with the Chinese Guangzhou municipal government that it will spend RMB$61 billion to build a 10.5-generation plant display park with the world’s highest yield rate and capacity, to develop 8K LCD panel, industrial display automation, smart home applications and high-end display technology.
SDP has the world's only 10-generation LCD panel production line using 8K resolution technology and manufactures the world's largest LCD panel in terms of size. The new 10.5 generation plant will combine with 8K technology from SDP, more than 40 years of manufacturing experience from Hon Hai, and Sharp’s brand strength, to co-develop new display products.
SDP said that the new 10.5-generation line will also comply with indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) technology, is expected to begin mass production with large-size 8K definition LCD panel in 2019, the annual value of production is projected to reach RMB$ 92 billion.
SDP believes that 8K technology will bring an image revolution across the industrial IoTs, internet of vehicle, entertainment, medical treatment, sociality, education and security. The global 8K imaging technology market is estimated to reach US$5.15 trillion by 2020.
Terry Gou, chairman of Hon Hai, said that 8K technology is not only the cornerstone of China's manufacturing 2025, but also the future of human life, and the new 10-5 generation 8K production line is just a beginning.
He continued, he will continue to increase investment, and Hon Hai will become a leader in the industrial IoTs and internet of vehicle market based on Pearl River Delta region.
