HSINCHU, Taiwan — Memora cooperates with Elan Microelectronics Corp. and Technology Corp. in developing arguably the world’s smallest 360-degree camera—Luna. The device is designed to give out a full 360-degree panoramic view in a photo just by a single click. Elan Microelectronics’ Chairperson I. H. Yeh forecast that Luna will head into mass production in the third quarter of 2016.
Kevin Lin, Director at Sales & Marketing Center & Product Plan Division of Avisonic Technology, introduced, “This tiny gadget weighing just a mere 180 grams is packed with huge features as it uses two 190 degrees fish eye lens technology.
Users may also immediately save the photos or videos, live stream it to devices like smartphones, tablets and even smart TVs, for both Android and iOS, or upload the footages right away to SNS, as this device has a built in wifi. Moreover, Luna is has a 32G built-in memory card.
Regarding the core technologies, I. H. Yeh stated that Luna is embedded with fish eye lense distortion compensation, auto image stitching and image signal processing (ISP). In addition, the gyro-motion sensor (gyro-stabilization) also help Luna give out the better video and image quality despite the 360-degree shaking when bringing the device to outdoor activities.
Regarding the specs, Kevin Lin said that Luna is IP-68 waterproof rating and has single-button operation, as well as built-in WiFi for streaming content live or sending it to a smartphone.
Luna is compatible with YouTube, Facebook, Littlstar and other SNS, which comes with 360-degree video player that allows users to re-live memories in virtual reality mode using a custom DODOCase built Luna Cardboard or VR headsets such as Oculus Rift.
Luna is available for pre-order for 60 days on Indiegogo for the early bird price of $199. Given an OEM partnership with a spherical camera manufacturer in Taiwan, Luna promises to deliver within 7 months.
Nevertheless, Memora has a related mobile app available for Android and iOS; wireless transfer also supports PC and Mac OS X.
Last but not least, I. H. Yeh cited that apart from Luna, the fingerprint sensor chip will be another important growth driver of the company in 2016.
