Taichung Harbor, the total area of three thousand seven hundred hectares, is the largest modern international port of Taiwan, hinterland combined Central Taiwan Science Park, near the major industrial zones, export processing zones, as well as Taichung International Airport. In recent years, continuous planning Free Trade Zone Area to increase international trade convenience, and was elected by Hon Hai as smart manufacturing Center.

Taichung Port Free Trade Zone exploitative area amounts to 536ha, divided into two phases and three exploitative areas.
The First Phase：District 1: Wharf #1-18 with 181ha.wharfage, the formal operation started on October 31, 2005.District 3: West wharf #1-7 with 77ha.wharfage, the formal operation started on October 31, 2005.
The Second Phase：District Two: Wharf20A-46 with 278ha.wharfage, the formal operation started on Aug. 8, 2006
Software and hardware facilities hereunder for free commercial harbor area dealing with relevant business through computer connection and electronic material transmission mode are in the process being constructed.
